PETRA PERLA - NÔTOVÁ - soprano Petra Notova graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava with her degree of opera singing under the tutelage of Prof. V. Stracenská. She continued her studies attending the courses under the tutelage of Prof. J. Nesterenko and Prof. E. Bláhová and L. Baricová. During her studies she was awarded with the second place in the Austrian competition Sommer-akademie and the third place in the International Singing Competition of M. Š. Trnavský . At present she has been studying under the guidance of the American soprano singer Nancy Henninger. After finishing school in 2001 she started to perform in the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava where she debuted in the role of Annina – the Night in Venice – directed by L. Vaculík. Then she appeared before the audience in Mozart´s roles, such as Papagena and later as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni directed by J. Bednárik, who later cast her into the role of Clorinda in La Cenerentola. A year later, she performed with a great success under his direction as Marie in La fille du Régiment. In the same year she collaborated with the director Z. Gilhus in the baroque opera Alcina, where she performed a leading role. Then she appeared as Musetta in La Bohéme, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Niece in Peter Grimes, Esmeralda in the Bartered Bride and the First Nymph in Rusalka. In 2002 she was cast as Sophie in Werther opera in J. K. Tyl theatre in Pilsen. In 2003 she first appeared before the Prague audience as Felicia in La Belle et la Bête, which was directed by the brothers Forman. Petra was invited for guest performances in the National Theatre in Prague and appeared as Esmeralda in the Bartered Bride, Jano in Her Stepdaughter (Jenůfa) directed by J. Nekvasil. In 2006 she was engaged in the National Theatre in Prague, where she appeared with a great success in the role of Norina in Don Pasquale. A tour of Japan followed and she appeared as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Then other roles followed – Lénio in the Greek Passion, Barče in the Kiss, Musetta in La Bohéme. She performed the role of Servilia in the successful production of La clemenza di Tito directed by the notable pair of directors Ursel and Karl-Ernst Herrmann. In 2010 she mastered the role of Pamina in the production of Die Zauberflöte for J.K. Tyl theatre in Pilsen. With the same role she also performs in the State Opera in Prague. In 2011 for J. K. Tyl theatre she sang the role of Gilda in the production of Rigoletto directed by the famous controversial Hungarian director Róbert Alföldi. In the same year she sang the role of Susanna in the production of Le nozze di Figaro for the National Theatre in Brno, which was directed by Annette Jahns and conducted by Caspar Richter. Her extensive concert activity led her to concert halls in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary and Slovakia. She collaborated with the famous conductors, such as Asher Fish, Jiří Bělohlávek, Heiko Mathias Förster, Alessandro De Marchi, Oliver Dohnányi, Jiří Kout, Rastislav Štúr, Jaroslav Kyzlink, Peter Feranec and others. At present, Petra has currently had her guest appearances with Palau de les Arts in Valencia in the opera La Belle et la Bête , as well as took part in the recording of soundtrack to the film The Magic Flute for the Canadian Sullivan Home Entertainment. |
